PM Asks TVK to Re-Broadcast Video Ordering the Closure of Fishing Lots

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered the National Television of Cambodia (TVK) to re-broadcast a video in which he calls for the closure of fishing lots across the country, to emphasize his clear reason for protecting fish resources and Cambodian farmers.

The Prime Minister made this order while presiding over the closing ceremony of the Ministry of Agriculture's meeting to review the work of 2021 and set the work direction of 2022, on Wednesday (23 March).

Prime Minister Hun Sen said that when he asks for action to be taken against corrupt traders, there are some who suggest reopening fishing lots, which is something he firmly believes cannot happen. He stated that there were many problems that occurred when the government opened fishing lots to traders, and at that time, some Cambodian farmers even died because of those fishing lots.

In this regard, he ordered TVK to cooperate with various TV stations to re-broadcast more than five hours worth of video showing him ordering the shut down of fishing lots.
